Two Internal IRBs: More Support for Your Research

The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has two internal IRBs. Each IRB committee meets once per month for convened board meetings. The OPRS staff assigns each project to the most appropriate IRB for review based upon the research project and board member expertise.

IRB committee members also complete expedited reviews throughout each month.

Social/Behavioral IRB

The Social/Behavioral IRB reviews social science, behavioral science, education, business, and other non-health related research. It meets the fourth Tuesday of every month.

Biomedical IRB

The Biomedical IRB reviews medical, health-related, FDA-regulated, and other physical sciences research. It meets the second Thursday of every month.
