UIUC IRB Reviewing IRB for Carle

Description

UIUC as Reviewing IRB for Carle for Non-Exempt Research

This pathway is used for projects that are expected to be minimal risk or greater than minimal risk.  This means they will require either Expedited Review or Convened Board Review.  Carle IRB and UIUC IRB work together to determine the expected pathway and will let you know if this is the path you should use.

This process is the same as if UIUC was acting as the IRB for any non-UIUC affiliates except that a Reliance Consultation Request is not required.

Step 1: Create and submit an application in IRBOnline.  Only UIUC faculty, staff, or students can be listed in Section 2 as Research Team Members.  If UIUC is acting as the reviewing IRB for Carle, Carle is considered a participating site and a Participating Site Application should be attached under the "Other Documents" question of the New Study Application.

Step 2: Follow the Carle IRB process for relying on UIUC IRB if Carle employees are members of the research team.  Discuss the requirements and processes with the Carle IRB.

It is the researcher's responsibility to ensure all UIUC and Carle requirements have been met before any research procedures can occur.
