Do I need to transition an NHSR (Non-Human Subject Research) project?

Answer

No.  Non-Human Subject Research determinations are a determination that IRB oversight is not needed.  A determination is only needed once for a specific project and the determination does not have an expiration date.  Since ongoing IRB oversight is not required for NHSR projects, an IRBOnline submission is not needed for a project that has previously received an NHSR determination.  

However, like with any NHSR determination, if changes are made to the project or the information that the original determination was based on, a new application may be needed to ensure the updated project continues to be Non-Human Subject Research.  This is not considered a "transition" as it would be a different project or updated application to what was originally submitted.
