How are Renewals and Amendments impacted by IRBOnline?

• Renewal forms will not be accepted nor reviewed for any "paper" applications.  Rather than a renewal form, a new study application must be submitted via IRBOnline.  Just as with renewal forms, please ensure you submit the application in IRBOnline in sufficient time for the review and approval before the expiration date as all expiration dates are still valid. If the new project has not been approved, upon expiration all research procedures must stop until the research has been approved as part of the new application. 
• Researchers should consider submitting a new study application in IRBOnline rather than submitting an amendment application via a "paper" application for old studies.  Although minor amendment applications will be accepted, the deadline for transition remains 10/31/2024 regardless of any amendments that occur.  Rather than submitting a major amendment via email/"paper" application, to save time submit a new study application in IRBOnline to both transition and make changes at once. 
• Researchers should also consider if it will be easier to submit their project on a new study application at a random time where no amendments are needed to avoid any timing pressure of review and approval.
